The Blues Alliance Sets Date for IBC Local Playoffs for 2015 by Patti Gamble
The BATC local competitions for 2014 has been set! It’s time for bands and solo/duo acts to make their plans to compete. One band and one solo/duo act will represent The Blues Alliance in Memphis at the world’s largest gathering of blues musicians on January 20th through the 24th of 2015 in fabled Beale Street.
Our playoff competition will be, Wednesday, October 15th at the Pirate’s Cove Restaurant and Marina, 4307 SE Bayview St., Stuart, Fl. 34997. 772-287-2500. Time: 4-til? Doors open at 3 PM.
Each competitor will follow the rules of the Blues Foundation. Each set will be 25 minutes. An act must be a current paid member of The Blues Alliance. Rules and regulation see: www.blues.org.
Entry fee this year has been voted on by our Board of Directors. Fee for a band is $100.00, non refundable. Fee for solo/duo is $50.00 non refundable.
Each winning act will be required to play two fundraisers, dates to be announced. Proceeds from these events and fees, will be deposited in a fund to help defray expenses to get each winning act to Memphis but we cannot guarantee an “all expense-paid” trip, we simply offset the cost of the trip. The deadline for fees is: October 3, 2014 or otherwise as voted on by our board.
The Blues Alliance will help at the fundraisers but cannot guarantee that all expenses for Memphis will be covered. Expert judges will use the Blues Foundation scoring criteria and rules. An act may not compete three consecutive years in a row. Applying to participate is an initial statement and not a binding agreement. The Blues Alliance of the Treasure Coast is comprised of musicians, vocalists, song writers and people who just love music, especially the blues. The Blues Alliance supports all types of music, however, blues is the basis of our organization. It is the "life's blood" of why we, the officers, board and members volunteer to work hard to get our word out............ the word is the "BLUES." As a member of the Alliance, your name goes into our registry. You can get the news of "what's happening" by going into our web site at www.bluesalliance.org. You will meet many new, interesting and very talented neighbors and friends at our meetings and events. If you write and wish to contribute to our reviews, educational or news articles you may do so. The Blues Alliance Of The Treasure Coast Sponsorship Incentive Program
The Blues Alliance of the Treasure Coast's Incentive Program is a program designed to enhance our "R.Dale Treflner/Music Scholarship" Fund "Levels of Sponsorship" Program was instituted by Board Member, Danny Lehrman. Your donation goes directly to our Scholarship Account. Each year these funds are used toward two $500.00 scholarships to Indian River Community College Music Department. This is given to two worthy music students.

"Let Us Play Program"
The "Let Us Play Program", was instituted in 2004. It is a new venture for the Blues Alliance of the Treasure Coast. It's aim is to provide used or new musical instruments, free of cost, to students who can not afford to buy or rent their own and would otherwise be left out of functions. We accept donations from the public! We will be contacting schools in the quad-county area, and wish to work with the most needy children. This program is on a limited basis and will progress as we receive donations. Contact our Hot Line at (772)- 467-1851 to donate an instrument or if you know someone in need.
